Non Fiction books to read when finding it hard to stay motivated.
Let’s talk about non fiction today. I am a fiction fanatic, but that didn’t keep me from grabbing a pile of non-fiction, books are all amazing, fiction or non fiction. It’s just about what you prefer more.
Each one of us carry our own needs, wants and reasons for motivation. Towards what we really want, we are tremendously motivated and pretty consistent, but there are times, due to whatever reasons, we find it really hard to stay on track and stay motivated. We may be short of our expectations for ourselves, we fail, there may be other reasons, work life, family issues, health or financial struggles, all these situations tend to lead us towards distress and apathy. These are the times when we really need a push, especially when there is no one who can help you talk out of these feelings, and honestly, running from these feelings is not the solution either. The goal is to accept them, and learn how to manage them in a healthy way, and if you are a person who prefers books over people, well, voila! What are we waiting for, so, these are the books I found really really helpful and good.
1.The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
Robin Sharma is a well known personality, a motivational speaker, a great author, with abundance of knowledge to offer. His books tend to offer a myriad ways which can help you stay focused, lifts up your mood, motivates you and daily rituals which simply and subtly helps you develop your personality. The book, ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari’ (almost a non fiction) will present you with a fascinating story about a lawyer, and how he stepped out of his unfulfilling career and life. He will take you to a journey full of teachings, learnings and self realization, and trust me when I say, when this book ends, you’ll get that feeling of ‘whoa’ and which will stay with you always.
2.Becoming by Michelle Obama
This book is a memoir of the former first lady of the US, in which she tells her story, her roots, all the experiences, and how she became who she is today. She is the first African American First lady which means it didn’t come with less difficulties. It marked the beginning of something better, which came with a lot of chaos, and uncertainties. You will experience her story as she narrates beautifully intimate, deeply personal events of her life. Honestly, I felt a certain warmth with every page that unlocked and reflected the beauty of her way of thinking. Truly inspiring.
3.Ikigai by Albert Liebermann and Hector Garcia
You might already be familiar with this book, or already might have read it. This one was a superhit in the self help world. We are always in a rush, in a rush to do this, do that, achieve this, achieve that, but this book will help you slow down and introspect and retrospect on where actually our actions are leading us. This generation is in such a hurry that they almost do not notice how every minute of the life has passed by, and they forgot to live in it. This book will help you realize your goal in life, realize your self, to reach your goal with content, satisfaction and not rush everything. So, basically, it will teach you to chill in life, and there is peace in chilling. (lost track, lol).
4.The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson
This book has been wildly popular, a blogger who reflected the things as they are without sugarcoating any of it. He opposed the feel-positive-all-the-time mindset and taught to focus on reality, see things as they are, accept your weaknesses, flaws and to basically cut-the-crap out and live without giving any extra energy to non avoidable things. This might not sound that good as I am telling you now, but you’ll see for yourself once you pick the book up what the hype was all about. Truly amazing.
5.Wings of Fire by A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Arun Tiwari
An autobiography of former president of India, truly inspiring. He narrates his childhood experiences, the hardships, and his dedication towards the nation, science and importance of education. The words of wisdom and the exposure you get to his amazing minset is tremendously valuable. His way of seeing the world, his calm demeanour is very encouraging. The phrase, ‘simple living, high thinking’ would be totally suitable here, he was a man of simple living and high thinking, he was so dedicated towards his field of work, a man of nation who worked for nation. There is some lesson, some knowledge for each one of us in his book, something truly valuable to extract.
So these were the five books you can look up to when you feel failed or demotivated. There is a lot of knowledge, a lot of inspiration and a hell lot of information that you can put to use and become a better person overall. There is something for every one of us to take from these amazing books. They helped me, they might help you as well. Time can be difficult, especially nowadays, with a pandemic over our head, there’s so much of stress and hardships but there is also hope. So, what are you waiting for, grab on a book and set out out your journey of learning and realizing.
